2008 FLORIDA DIVISIONAL DIRT SERIES

Things you need to know about FDDS racing:

Flathead: Engines must have a head bolt drilled such that a wire can pass through and be tied to the top carburator bolt that is also drilled. One bolt on the side cover towards the front must be drilled also.

Animal: head, carb and manifold bolts must be drilled for sealing wire at tech.

You will pick your tech sealing wires up at registration. If you are running more than one engine you will need to pick up one for each engine.

You will wire the seals in place before qualifying. Your seal will be crimped as you go into staging for your qualifying attempt. It is your responsibility to make sure your engine is crimped before qualifying.

Effective next race at Jasper, all kart pit areas must have a tarp covering the ground that the kart will be worked over that is a min of 6x8’. Multi kart teams will require more coverage. No kart is to be worked on without a tarp underneath. You must take your tarp home with you. Tarp cannot have any holes or tears.

Absolutely no children under the age of 15 are allowed to administer any additives to any tires. Anyone administering any additives to a tire must wear a protective glove, cannot be latex.

Absolutely no open flames of any kind associated with tire treatment. No wet tires are to be brought to staging.

It is the responsibility of the karter, or their representative, if finishing in the top 2, to have the motor removed from the kart and presented to tech for inspection within 30 minutes of finishing their race.

2008 FDDS RULES

1. All WKA rules will apply with the exception of spec tires and cut and prep.
2. It is your responsibility to pick up and attach your transponder to your kart. Failure to do so may cause you to be scored last. If you lose or damage a transponder, the cost is $250 to replace. Racers may buy their own personal transponders from AMB directly and keep them themselves.
3. All engines must be drilled to accommodate engine seals. If you have any questions, see tech.
4. All restricted classes must use WKA approved restrictor plates.
5. Top 5 finishers in feature will report directly to tech. No touching of kart is allowed unless directed.
6. You must run 5 of the 6 races scheduled for points transfer to Nationals and year end awards.
7. Any class with 5 or less karts during the season may be affected at year end awards. This will be clarified
as season progresses.
8. ABSOLUTELY NO OIL DUMPING ON GROUND. Your pit area is to remain clean.
9. Drivers and their pit crews are responsible for their behavior. Foul language and unsportsmanlike conduct is not acceptable. Anyone physically hitting another person will be suspended from that event and the incident reviewed for possible suspension for the remainder of the season.
10. Anyone striking or abusing an FDDS official will be suspended immediately and for the remainder of the season.

Qualifying Procedures

1. Group qualifying will be used. Karts will go out in groups as directed. The intent is to keep the karts separated. If you see the move over flag, move to the outside and let the faster kart by. No drafting or bumping.
2. Top 20 from qualifying will transfer to the feature. If more than 30 karts, 2nd round qualifying will determine 21-30 starting positions. If less than 30, no second round qualifying. Go on your 1st time.
3. No lagging back on the grid during qualifying. You must be ready to go when told. If you have a problem on the grid, you will be given 90 seconds to get rolling or forfeit that qualifying run.
4. No tire warmers, covers, or other equipment allowed on grid. No working on kart in grid. Any adjustments to kart after gridded must be approved by grid steward prior to doing the work.
5. You will run 5 laps, with your fastest lap taken as your qualifying time. You will start heads up, fastest on pole,
2nd fast outside pole, etc.

Race Procedures

1. The race starts at the orange cone coming out of turn 4. Flagman starts the race at the cone. Neither pole kart is allowed to fire before this cone. If you do, you will be considered jumping and put back 4 positions in the single file restart attempt.
2. One attempt at an original, side by side start. Race hasn’t started until we complete the first lap. Complete means every kart must have crossed the finish line on the first lap prior to a caution.
3. After 1st attempt, karts will line up single file, still starting at orange cone coming out of turn 4.
4. There will be no cautions thrown once we go single file starts unless a kart is not capable of moving and is in harms way.
5. CAUTIONS: will be thrown only if kart is in harms way. If caution comes out, all karts involved in caution will go to the rear. There is a 20 minute time limit for all races excluding red flags. No working on karts during red flag. If your kart spins, get going and move out of the traffic groove. If your kart quits, pull it as far off racing surface as you can.
6. If you have a problem with your kart, you will be given 2 pace laps to correct it. Only driver can work on kart except in Jr. Classes, where race official or, if given permission, a crew member can come out. After 2 laps, remove kart from
racing surface immediately.
7. On caution or red, we revert back to last completed green flag lap. Do not race back to flag.
8. Rough driving will not be tolerated. If you don’t know what constitutes rough driving, come see me.
9. Obey corner officials with move-over flags. Corner worker will also have a white board to tell what kart # is being black flagged or warned about something.
10. On restarts, the leader will have the option to fire anywhere between the entrance to turn 3 and the orange cone coming out of turn 4. No lagging back on restarts to get a running start. If kart in front of you is lagging back a couple of kart lengths, go around them under caution and fill the gap. Stay tight on restarts.
11. In the event of rain, points will be awarded per your qualifying order. If no qualifying, everyone gets 200 points.
